Water Flowing Off From The Body During Wudhu

Question

When I make Wudhu, I do not splash the water , but water runs down my hands onto the clothes. Is my Wudhu valid?

Answer

According to the Fuqaha the water that flows off during wudhu from those parts that have been washed is classified as “Maa-e-Musta’mil” (used water). The ruling regarding such water is that it is clean (Taahir) but may not be used for Wudhu or Ghusl. Hence even if such water rolls down or splashes on to one’s clothes it will not affect the purity of one’s clothing.
