Question

Should a person lift his hands for the takbeers in janaza salaah?

Answer

One will only lift his hands up in the first Takbeer, not for the following Takbeers. Yes, if someone reads in a gathering where the Musallis lift up their hands for all the Takeers, one may also do so.

في الدر المختار: (وهي أربع تكبيرات كل تكبيرة قائمة مقام ركعة ( يرفع يديه في الأولى فقط) وقال أئمة بلخ في كلها وعلق عليه ابن عابدين : (قوله: وقال أئمة بلخ في (كلها وهو قول الأئمة الثلاثة ورواية عن أبي حنيفة كما في شرح درر البحار ، والأول ظاهر الرواية كما في البحر. وفي حاشيته للرملي: ربما يستفاد منه أن الحنفي إذا اقتدى بالشافعي فالأولى متابعته في الرفع ولم أره. اهـ.
