Question
I am currently residing in Jeddah (thus outside the haram boundary but within the meeqat) and I intend to perform Hajj this year inshallah.
Please advise on the type of Hajj I should make.
I have been told if I make Ifraad Hajj, I cannot make Umrah in the Hajj months (Shawwal onwards). Is this correct or will I still be able to make Umrah till the days of Hajj and then make Ifraad hajj.
Answer
In principle, people living in Makkah and within the boundaries of the Meeqaat:
1. Only have the option of performing Hajj-e-Ifraad.
2. It will be Makrooh for them to perform Umrah during the months of Hajj (i.e. Shawwal,Dhul-Q’adah and the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah) whenever they intend to perform Hajj.
Therefore, you will only perform Hajj-e-Ifraad as Jeddah is located within the boundaries of the Meeqaat and it will Makrooh for you to perform Umrah during the months of Hajj for this year. While you are in Makkah, spend most of your time in Tawaaf of the Bait-u-Allah and other acts of Ibaadah.
