Question
What is the ruling for a non-Muslim to give waqf? as the management can we accept the proposal or should we investigate the source of the proposal where it come from?
Answer
It is permissible to accept Waqf from a non Muslim with the following conditions:
• It is an act of worship in the religion of the non-Muslim.
• There shouldn’t be an ulterior motive behind it. For example: if a non Muslim gives Waqf to a Masjid with the intention of getting funds from the Muslims for his church, or for a political reason such as getting votes from Muslims, then it will not be permissible to accept his Waqf.
• Majority of his income should be from a Halal source.
