Blood Transfusions vs Organ Transplants

Question

Please differentiate between the ruling of blood transfusion and organ transplant. Shouldn’t blood transfusion also be prohibited due to the same reason which organ transplant is prohibited i.e. the sanctity of the human body and all that related to it?

Answer

The difference between organ transplant and blood transfusion is that in the former (organ transplant) the giver/donator stops benefiting from the organ in totality and its harms and adverse repercussions are more than the benefits and advantages and, in the latter (blood transfusion), it is a temporary loss which the body later recovers by  generating more blood. Therefore, in dire need the latter will be admissible.
