Question
I would like to know the conditions for a boy to become baaligh. My son is still extremely mentally immature, hasn’t had any dreams etc. and is still 10 years old. He has however started growing hair in the pubic area, nothing anywhere else (face underarm, moustache). Please assist.
Answer
Puberty is established in a male by ejaculation or having a nocturnal emission (wet dream). If neither occurs, the boy will be considered Baaligh upon reaching the age of 15 in terms of Islamic/lunar years (which equates to approximately 14 years and 7 months according to the solar/Gregorian calendar).
