Colours Of A Turban

Question

Is wearing of black amama (turban) proven in authentic narrations? Which colour turbans are proven in authentic narrations?

Answer

The wearing of a black turban is proven from reliable and authentic narrations. It is narrated that our Nabi Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam wore a black turban on the event of the conquest of Makkah Mukarramah and on many other occasions. Likewise wearing of the white, green, red and yellow turbans are found in authentic narrations. Sulaiman bin Abdullah (Rahmatullahi Alaih) says I saw the Sahaabah (Radhiallahu Anhum) who were from the Muhaajireene-Awwaleen wearing turbans of cotton material, the colours were black, white, green, red and yellow.

However, wearing of the white turban is most preferable and closest to the sunnah.
