Question
Should Zam-Zam water being drunk standing or sitting, with the hair covered or uncovered?
Answer
We assume that your query pertains to drinking the water of Zam Zam when one is at home, hence our answer is according to this scenario.
The Ulama have written that it is permissible to drink the water of Zam Zam in both the standing and sitting position. Some Ulama have stated that Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam consumed the water of Zam in a standing posture due to the excessive crowds around him at the well of Zam Zam, whilst others have stated that this was done to prove the permissibility of consuming Zam Zam whilst standing. However, the famous view amongst the Ulama is that Zam Zam is excluded from the general prohibition of standing and drinking.
[Fataawa Darul Uloom Zakariyya Pg.466 Vol.3]
Similarly, it will be permissible to drink the water of Zam Zam with the head covered or uncovered. Fatawaa Mahmodiyya states that there is no harm in consuming food whilst the head is uncovered.
[Fataawa Mahmoodiyya pg.45 Vol.27]
However, on the basis of etiquette, the head should be covered.
