Question
I would like to know if its permissible to frequent airline lounges that serve alcohol?
Answer
The Hadith states,
Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not sit upon a table upon which wine is circulated and served.
If wine is openly served and people are consuming it on the same table as us, then we as believers should abstain from sitting on such a table and in such an environment. If we have been afforded access to such lounges due to holding a first class ticket or business ticket then we should acquire our needs (i.e. take the Halaal items that we require which are available to all the passengers) and thereafter leave the lounge, or if there is an area that caters for non-drinkers then it would be permissible to use and sit in such a segregated area.
