Hunting With A Rifle

Please explain the rules of hunting with a rifle.

The ruling regarding hunting with a rifle is same like hunting with any other firearm, big or small. Regardless of whether the hunter recites bismillah before shooting or not, merely hitting the hunted animal with the bullet does not render its meat halaal for consumption. The animal once struck will have to be slaughtered reciting Bismillah while it is still alive. Failing to slaughter it on time and slaughtering it after it has died will not render the meat Halaal.
