Question
Sometimes when one is performing salaah in jamaat the imam goes quickly from posture to posture such that one misses a posture with him e.g. before I reach the sajda posture he has already got up from it. Is my salaah correct? What if this happens in a posture that is not a RUKN in salaah but a waajib e.g. qaumah and jalsah. This is very common where the imam performs qaumah/jalsah quickly without itminaan thus by the time the muqtadi reaches this position the imam has already moved into sajda especially with old people.
Answer
The Muqtadi should perform the particular posture that was missed and catch up with the Imaam
in the subsequent posture.
For example, whilst an elderly person was still coming up from Ruku, the Imaam perform the Qaumah posture and then proceeded for Sajdah, so the elderly person will be required to perform the Qaumah posture first and then join the imam in the Sajda posture. The same is applicable to all other postures wherein the Muqtadi misses the Imaam. By doing so the
Salaah of the Muqtadi will be in order and valid.
