Performing Umrah Wearing A Dirty Ihraam

Question

If one intends to perform more than one Umrah, is it wajib that his Ihram is clean? By this I mean can dirt and dust  not even be on it.

If I spill cold-drink, or coffee over my Ihram, and it looks dirty, is it still permissible to do Umrah in such a Ihram without it being disliked?

Answer

If a person intends to perform one Umrah after another, it is necessary that his Ihraam be clean from all impurities such as urine, stool, blood, etc. and it is not Waajib for his Ihraam to be clean from dirt, such as dust, sand, etc. It will however be disliked to perform `Umrah with a dirty Ihraam and it is Mustahab (meritorious) to wear a new or a washed Ihraam.

If you did wear a clean Ihraam and you are already in the state of Ihraam and some coffee etc. spills on it, you can continue with your Umrah in such an Ihraam. If you wish to clean the spill, you should just use plain water.
