Performing Salaah During Labour

Does a woman have to pray salah during labour?

In my case my waters broke at 3.30am and I delivered the baby by 14.30hrs so was I supposed to pray or not considering blood was visible too?

One is obliged to perform Salaah until most of the baby has been delivered during labour. Remember that this Mas’alah explains the point at which we will classify a lady to be in Nifaas. It does not mean that a lady who is unable to perform Salaah at this point is obligated to perform it whether she can manage or not. If she can manage without harm to the baby, the Salaah should be performed in any position which is comfortable for the mother. If she cannot perform Salaah because of immense pain or it will be harmful to the baby, those Salaahs missed during labour must be recorded and made up for after Nifaas.

This Mas’ala required extra detail because some modernists are running a fine comb through the Masaa’il of Fiqh to run the Fuqahaa down to serve their agenda of breaking the reliance of the masses on the Fuqahaa so that they can start interpolating the Qur’an and Hadeeth to suit the whims and fancies of their masters. They say, “look at this, they expect a lady to read Salaah in this condition.” So remember, the Fuqahaa are defining the exact point at which a lady will be considered to be in Nifaas.
