Question
Is it permissible for a Muslim husband to participate in prayer with his Christian wife?
Answer
Doing so will not be permissible as the prayer of a Christian contains elements forbidden by Islam. For example, Christians consider Hazrat Eesa Alayhi Assalaam to be the son of Allah Ta’aala and hence capable of fulfilling one’s needs. Supplicating to any being other than Allah whilst holding the belief that they are also capable of fulfilling one’s needs is not permitted in Islam, irrelevant whether the being that is supplicated to is an angel, Nabi or any other person.
