Reciting Quraan-e-Majeed In The Vicinity Of The Deceased Before Burial

Question

Is it bidat to recite Surah Yaseen over the deceased before he/she is buried?

Answer

It is Makrooh to recite any portion of the Quraan in the vicinity of the deceased before the Ghusl is carried out once a person has passed away. After the Ghusl has been carried out it will be permissible to recite any portion of the Quraan around the deceased, whether it be Surah Yaseen or any other Surah.

Care should however be taken that a person is not forced to do so nor should it become so emphasized that one who does not do so is reprimanded or looked down upon.
