Selling The Skin of Qurbani Animals

Question

I know of a person who buys sheep skin. Will it be permissible for me to collect sheep skin on the day of qurbani and thensell it to the person who buys skin?

Answer

If a person sells the skin of his own Qurbani animal, he is only allowed to give the proceeds in charity to a deserving person. To use the money, or to give it to someone who is not eligible receive to receive zakaat would not be permissible.

As for the situation you have described, it would be correct for you to collect sheep skin on the day of Qurbani as long as those from whom you are collecting, give it to you as a gift and do not ask for any remuneration in return. Thereafter by selling these skins, it will be permissible for you to spend that money upon yourself or to give it to anyone regardless of whether that person is rich or poor.
