Question
Can one slaughter a sheep with a half tail? Will ones qurbani still be fulfilled?
Answer
If more than a third of the tail of a Qurbani animal is cut off, it will not be permissible to slaughter such an animal for Qurbani. If a person looks around, he can find sheep with full tails or those that have less than a third of the tail cut off.
Nonetheless, in the queried scenario, where half of the sheep’s tail has been cut off already, it follows then that such a sheep will not be permissible to utilize for Qurbani.
