Sleeping In A Masjid

It is permissible for a Mu’takif, Musaafir/traveller or for a Deeni need, (e.g.  orotection of the masjid or for a person who fears not getting Salaah with  Jamaa’ah sleeps in the Masjid to perform his Salaah with Jamaa’ah) to sleep in the masjid. Even if he is a Musaafir or sleeps for a Deeni need (as explained), then too it would be  recommended for him to make an intention of Nafl I’tikaaf when sleeping in the Masjid. Therefore, to sleep in the Masjid without a valid Share’e reason is Makrooh and against the etiquettes of the Masjid.

Furthermore, those sleeping in the Masjid for a valid Shar’ee reason should ensure that:

– They do not make noise.
– They do not indulge in worldly talks.
– They keep the Masjid clean and tidy.
– They make intention of I’etikaaf.
– They do not harm or disturb the Musallees of the Masjid in any way.
– They wake up as soon as the Azhaan goes.
– They abide by all the etiquettes of the Masjid.
