Question
During Salaat with Jamaat, if a brother is alone in the second saff, should he remain alone or request one brother from the saff in front to come back and join him?
Answer
Firstly, if one prays alone in a Saff behind Imam, his Salah will be counted and will be valid without any dislike and abomination; however, one is advised not to pray alone in a Saff behind the Imam rather he should wait until Rukoo for another Musalli to come and accompany him. If no one comes as the time of Rukoo approaches, he is allowed to gently pull someone from the front saff (who knows this ruling) to accompany him. He should then stand next to that brother on the same place where that brother has come back to. If he thinks there is no one in the front Saff who knows this ruling, he can start praying alone behind the Imam in the Saff.
These days people are unaware of this ruling; therefore, if in doubt, rather read alone in the saff instead of pulling someone to come back because you may jeopardize his salaah.

أتي جماعة ولم يجد في الصف فرجة قيل يقوم وحده ويعذر وقيل يجذب واحدا من الصف إلى نفسه فيقف بجنبه والأصح ما روى هشام عن محمد أنه ينتظر إلى الركوع فإن جاء رجل وإلا جذب إليه رجلا أو دخل في الصف ثم قال فى القنيه : و القيام وحده أولى في زماننا لغلبة الجهل على العوام فإذا جره تفسد صلاته (شامي ٤\١٦٥ دار الثقافة) وكذا تاتار خانية ١\٥٦٩ ) و عزيز الفتاوي (۱\۱۸۷)
اگر ایک صف پوری ہو چکی ہے اس کے بعد کوئی نمازی آیا ہے تو اس کو چاہئے کہ کچھ انتظار کرلے اور اگر رکوع سے پہلے پہلے کوئی اور مقتدی آجائے تو اس کے ساتھ مل کر کھڑا ہو جائے اگر کوئی اور نمازی نہیں آیا تو اس کو چاہئے کہ کسی شخص کو جو کہ اس مسئلہ سے واقف ہونا ہو صف سے کھینچ لے اور جس لے اور جس جگہ سے کھینچا ہے با ہے اس جگہ سے پچھلی صف میں دونوں کھڑے ہو جائیں (تقلیلاً للمشى في الصلوة ) ۔ اور اگر کوئی اس مسئلہ کا جاننے والا نہ ہو پھر تنہا ہی کھڑا ہو جائے: (فتاوي محموديه ٦١٥٠١)
اگلی صف میں گنجائش نہ ہونے کی وجہ سے اگر کوئی شخص پچھلی صف میں تنہا نماز پڑھے تو اس کی نماز بلا کر اہت ادا ہو جائے گی۔۔۔۔۔ (فتاوی قاسمیہ ۱۳۴۶ 7 مکتبہ اشرفیہ )
