Does the miswaak have to be a certain length for it to be considered Sunnah?

Answer

The Miswaak does not have to be a certain length for it to be considered Sunnah. Using the Miswaak, regardless of the length is Sunnah. However, the scholars have stated that it is Mustahab for the initial length of the Miswaak to be one hand span i.e. the length which is from the little finger to the thumb when the hand is stretched opened. Thereafter the Miswaak may be used up to whatever length one is comfortable with which will serve the purpose of cleaning the teeth and the
mouth.
