Tabligh Jamaat

The Tabligh Jamaat is doing a very Mubaarak effort, by means of which Ta’aala has changed the lives of many which is visible for all to see. By means of this effort  together with the concern for one’s own reformation, the worry for the reformation of the Ummah is created.

Hazrat Mufti Mahmood Hasan Gangohi Rahimahullah writes in a Fatwa that the Tableegh of Deen (which encapsulates enjoining the good and forbidding evil) is Fardh in every era. Likewise, in the current era, it is also Fardh, however it is Fardh Alal Kifaayah. Thus the importance that will be attached to it will vary according to the need. Similarly the extent of  responsibility of Tableegh will vary with the capabilities of individuals. (E.g. Ulama and people of social standing in society will have a greater responsibility).

From the above quotation of Fataawa Mahmoodiyyah one learns that Tableegh of Deen in itself is Fardh Alal Kifaayah. The specific methodology adopted by the Tableegh Jamaat is not Fardh, however Allah Ta’aala has, since the revival of this effort by Hazrat Maulana Muhammad Ilyaas Rahimahullah, time and again shown in innumerable places that doing this effort according to the principles laid down by Hazrat Maulana Muhammad Ilyaas Rahimahullah is very effective for Deen and the effort of Deen to come alive in the lives of the public and special alike. Ulama explain that the reason for this is that Hazrat Maulana based this effort on the principles of the effort of the Ambiyaa  and Rasulullah  which were extracted from the Quraan and Ahaadith.

Hazrat Mufti Mahmood Hasan Gangohi Rahimahullah further adds that mention of enjoining good and forbidding evil is clear in the Quraan. The greatest good is Imaan and the greatest evil is kufr. Every believer is responsible (to the extent of his capability), to propagate the Deen of Allah Ta’aala according to the guidelines laid down by Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam.

May Allah Ta’aala accept all of us for His Deen and to actively participate in the activities of the Tableegh Jamaat.
