Question
A lady too an oath (Wallahi) that she will not talk to or have anything to do with someone. The intention she had was that she will never speak to, meet up or message the other person.
Then she messaged the person.
Is her oath broken or not? Will she have to do Kaffarah?
Answer
In the enquired scenario, due to breaching an oath, she will be obliged to expiate for it. Kaffaratul-Yameen (the expiation for breaching an oath) is to feed 10 needy people two meals (it is also permitted to give the amount of Sadaqatul-Fitr to 10 needy people and this will cover up for the two meals which would otherwise have been necessary), or clothe 10 destitute people.
If one doesn’t have the financial capability to fulfill any of the above expiations, he/she should fast for 3 consecutive days.
