Question
I get my qurbaani done through charity organisations. When giving money online, I make intention of the people I am paying on behalf of, but only my name appears on the receipt.
Will all our Qurbaani be done if the person slaughtering does not say our names?
Answer
In the queried scenario we understand that you were appointed to purchase shares on behalf of those intending to make Qurbani. You then purchased the animals or shares of an animal from the organization selling Qurbani animals, and you too had an intention of each of the purchasers when purchasing.
The Fuqaha have written that the Niyyat of the original purchaser is sufficient and Qurbani will be valid.
Secondly, it is not necessary that the slaughterer takes the name of each of the people on behalf of whom he is making Qurbani. The slaughterer should merely have an intention in his mind that he is slaughtering on behalf of all.
However, it is better to have the name of every person on every animal that is going to be slaughtered, that this animal is for so and so, whilst that is for so and so, etc. but this is not a condition for the validity of the Qurbani.
