Question
Is it permissible to play game in theme parks where you pay to shoot a basketball 10 shots for example. If you make a certain number of shots, then you win a basketball as a prize?
Answer
Playing such a game is not permissible. It is known that people pay to play such games in hope of receiving the basketball as a prize, and therefore, since there is an equal possibility of gaining the prize or losing his money without any gain in return, it will be considered Qimaar (gambling).
