Question

May one use a razor to remove one’s moustache?

Answer

Regarding the trimming of the moustache, the wording used in the Hadith is جزوا and احفوا which means ‘to cut excessively’. This can be achieved by means of a pair of scissors or an electronic shaver which follows the same principle as the scissor. The conventional razor blade shaves off the hair as opposed to cutting the hair; thus one should abstain from using a razor.
