Using Perfumes Which Contain Alcohol

Question

Is it permissible to use perfumes in which there is an alcohol content?

Answer

It is not permissible to use perfumes that contain alcohol which is made from dates and grapes, as such perfumes are impure. If the alcohol is from others sources, then it would be permissible to use the perfume. However, it would be best to abstain. Differentiating which alcohol a perfume was made from can prove to be tedious for many people.

Therefore, to be on the safe side, it is preferable to use perfumes and deodorants which are labelled as Alcohol-free since such perfumes are readily available on the market.
