Using Water And Electricity In A Masjid Without Paying

Question

What is the ruling of Shariah about using illegal water and electricity in a masjid. Illegal means theft of electricity and water without paying for it?

Answer

It is Haraam for the Muatawallis to make illegal electricity and water connections in a Masjid. By doing this they are also jeopardizing the very existence of the Masjid since it can be attached if the outstanding amounts are not paid. At worst the Wudhu and toilet facilities should only be used by travellers and in emergencies. People should make Wudhu at home or pay their part for the water and electricity of the Masjid.
