Question
A perosn donned the ihraam of Umrah and he forgot to remove his lower underwear. After about half an hour after donning the Ihraam he remembered and removed it, what does he have to do?
Answer
. If the “lower underwear” you are referring to is a sewn garment, then the following ruling will apply: It is prohibited for a male to wear any form of sewn clothing in the state of Ihraam, whether the clothing covers the entire body or just a limb of the body. The underwear will also be considered as covering a portion of the body, thus the Muhrim would be considered as one that has perpetrated one of the prohibitions of Ihraam.
However, due to adorning the underwear for a minimal period of half an hour (and not for the entire day), the Muhrim will have to give Sadaqah
and not Dumm.
