Question
Is it lawful for females studying Quraan to handle a translation of the Quraan during Haidh?
What about writing words of Quraan?
Answer
The Fuqaha have written, that it is not permissible to touch the Quraan-e-Kareem during the menstruation period, nor is it permissible to touch verses of the Quraan-e-Kareem that are inscribed on a slate or on a dirham (coin) or on a wall. However if a copy of the Quraan-e-Kareem is held with such a cloth that is not part of the Quraan , then holding the Quraan in a state of impurity will be permissible. The same rule will apply to the a translation of the Quraan because it includes the Arabic text and the translation of each verse amounts to about the same size as the actual Arabic verse.
It is not permissible to write verses of the Quraan-e-Kareem during the menstruation period.
