Four Rakaat of Tahaujjud Salaah Performed After Subh Saadiq

Question

If a person reads 4 Rakaats Tahajjud Salaah thinking that it is still the time of Tahajjud, whereas Tahajjud time has already ended, what is the Hukm of the 4 Rakaats , does 2 Rakaats count as the Sunnats of Fajr?

Answer

If a person performs four Rakaat of Tahajjud Salaah thinking that it is still time of Tahajjud Salaah, whereas Subh-Saadiq (true Dawn-beginning time of Fajr) had already occurred, two Rak’aat will be regarded as the Sunnah of Fajr and the other two will be regarded as Nafl. The two Rakaat Nafl, in this scenario, will not be considered to be Makrooh as they were not performed intentionally.

One should bear in mind that apart from the two Rak’aat Sunnah of Fajr, it is Makrooh to perform any other Nafl Salaah between Subh Saadiq and Fajr Salaah.
