Using Medication To Delay Menstruation Beyond Tawaaf-e-Ziyaarah

Question

Would it be permissible for a woman to take birth-control pills to stop her menstruation during Hajj?

Answer

A woman that experiences her menstrual cycle whilst fulfilling her rituals of Haj is permitted to complete the Wuqoof of Arafah as well as Muzdalifah, pelting of the Jamaraat, Sa’ee between Safa and Marwah in the state of Haidh. In order words, she may fulfill all such rituals that take place outside the Masjid whist menstruating. She cannot perform Tawaaf-e-Ziyaarah in the state of Haidh as Tawaaf takes place in the Masjid.

If she is able to delay her flight then she may the delay the Tawaaf-e-Ziyaarat until her menstrual cycle has ended. If she is unable to delay her fight then she may utilize some medication which will postpone her menstrual cycle to a later stage.
