Question
Many Masajid have a second Jummah Salah at a later time to accommodate some people with the rationale being that they are unable to readily obtain time off, hence it is better that they perform the Jummah Salah, rather than not at all.
I have come across passing references that state a second Jummah Salah in the same Masjid is Makrooh-e-Tahreemi (close to haraam).
Is this correct?
Answer
In principle, under normal circumstances, it is Makrooh-e-Tahrimi to have a second congregational prayer in the same Masjid (once the Fardh has already been discharged by the Imaam or someone appointed by the Imaam).
Hence, having a second Jumu’ah Salaah to accommodate for people who come late will be impermissible. In today’s era people take leave from work for various reasons. One should also take leave for Jumu’ah Salaah as this is a religious duty, which is also respected by major companies etc.
Besides this fact, every person is afforded with a lunch break throughout the day. Hence, an effort should be made to adjust one’s lunch break so that it corresponds with the time for the Jumu’ah Salaah. However, in the case where taking leave at that specific time is difficult, for whatever reason, then other options are available to accommodate for those who are unable to make it for the earlier time.
For example, the Jumu’ah Salaah should be delayed till a time whereby everybody can conveniently make it for the Salaah. Another option would be that if there are a few Masaajid in one area, one or two of the Masājid should delay their Jumu’ah Salaah to a later time in order to accommodate those who may not be able to make it for the earlier Jumu’ah Salaah in certain Masaajid. This will allow everyone to offer their Jumu’ah Salaah with the first Jama’ah in the respective Masaajid.
It is important to understand that unfortunately in today’s time, the Muslim Ummah is very distant from the Deen of Allah Ta’aala. The core reason being that we have failed to bring the true Yaqeen and conviction of Allah Ta’aala within our hearts; instead our hearts are polluted with the glamour of this Dunyah (world). This is why it is essential for one and all to have a concern and make an effort on his/her Imān and Yaqīn in Allah Ta’aala. The acceptance of the various works of Deen, for example, the effort of the Tableegh Jamaat, Khanqahs etc. have been witnessed across the globe and therefore, one and all should try and join such efforts as they are the means of protection of our Imaan as well as the Imaan of our progenies to come.
At the same time, Allah Ta’aala has granted the Ulama extra advantages, such as their connection with the masses, their reliability amongst the masses, and the greatest of all, the Mimbar. These aspects should be taken advantage of and used with thoughtfulness and wisdom to educate the masses of the correct commandments of Allah Ta’aala and teachings of our beloved Nabee Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam. With everyone in the Muslim community having a concern and playing a role (the Ulama as well as the non-Ulama) for the effort of our Imaan and the Imaan of our progenies to come, we will automatically see a change in the attitude of the masses and we will In-Shaa-Allah witness positive results.
