Question
An Imaam ked the Fardh Salaah for a period of time seated on a chair. The Sajdah was made by indication.
Will it be necessary to repeat the Salaah that was performed by the followers or is Imaamat on a chair valid?l
Answer
Salaah behind an Imaam that is sitting on a chair and performing Ruku and Sajdah by indication (whilst the Muqtadis are able to perform all the postures of Salaah correctly) is invalid as the Imaam is in a lower position than the Muqtadis.
Therefore, Salaah performed behind such an Imaam will have to be repeated by the Muqtadis.
