Blood In The Saliva

Question

I would like to enquire regarding finding blood extracts in ones saliva.

At times I tend to get a slight taste of blood in my saliva. When I spit it out then sometimes it has a tinge of redness in it and sometimes it comes out clear. There isn’t any real reason for finding the blood meaning it just happens like that and is not confined to when I chew on something etc.

At times during salaah I get this taste in my mouth. What am I required to do?

Currently I at times just ignore it and at times I spit it out to see if i can see any extracts of blood. What will be the condition of those salaah already performed when it occured and I had ignored it?

If I am fasting and I had swallowed this saliva what will the condition of my fast be?

Answer

A). The Wudhu of a person breaks when the blood dominates the saliva. Yellowish saliva indicates that the saliva is dominant whilst reddish saliva indicates that the blood is dominant. All those Salaahs which you performed in the condition where blood was dominant, will have to be repeated. If the colours of both the blood and saliva appeared equal, then as a precaution, those Salaahs should also be repeated.

B). With regards to the fast, it will break if the blood was dominant or equal to the saliva and then it was swallowed. If the saliva was dominant the fast will not break unless you could get the taste of the blood as it went down into the stomach, in which case the fast will break. Qadha of the fast will be incumbent in all these cases where the fast broke.
