Choosing A Name For A Child

Question

Please suggest which name can I keep for my son.

Answer

The Fuqaha (jurists) have mentioned a general rule one should take into consideration when naming a child. The preferable view of the Fuqaha (jurists) is to abstain from keeping such names which are not mentioned by Allah Ta’aala and Rasulullaah Sallallahu Alayi Wa Sallam and those names that Muslims do not generally use. One should ensure that he names his child with a name that has a good meaning as this will have a good effect on the child. Rasulullaah Rasulullaah Sallallahu Alayi Wa Sallam has mentioned in a Hadeeth:

Verily, you will be called out on the day of Qiyaamah by your names and your fathers names, so give yourselves good names.
