Continuous Flatulence

Question

I know passing of wind breaks wudhu and salaah.

However if a person has a problem whereby this is constant, does it mean that during salaah if they pass wind, wudhu must be repeated and salaah continued, but what if after making fresh wudhu wind is passed again, does it mean that a person has to constantly break their salaah to repeat wudhu and continue salaah? This is for someone who has this problem and is stopping to make fresh wudhu 3 to 4 times in one salaah.

Answer

If a person has continuous problems of such a nature, whereby one does not get enough time to make Wudhū and offer his Salāh in a state of purity, and this condition remains for one complete Salah time (from beginning to end), such a person will be classified as a Ma’zoor.

The ruling regarding such a person is that he/she has to make Wudhū once for every Salāh time and with that Wudhū he/she can offer as many Salawāt as he/she pleases in that Salāh time, whether Fardh, Wājib, or Nafl. The passing of wind in such a condition will not invalidate one’s Wudhū.

The Wudhū will only break at the termination of the current Salāh time. Then, for the next Salāh time, he/she will have to make a new Wudhū again which will last until the end of that Salāh time. Such a person will continuously be classified as a Ma’zoor as long as the ‘Uzr (passing of wind) takes place in every Salāh time (even if it be only once).

However, if one complete Salāh time passes in a manner that one doesn’t pass wind, then he/she will not be classified as a Ma’zoor anymore and one will have to make Wudhū every time one’s Wudhū breaks. Also, if there is no complete Salāh time which passes in which one cannot refrain from passing wind, but he/she does find enough time in which he/she can offer his/her Salāh without passing wind, then such a person will not be classified as a Ma’zoor anymore and each time he/she passes wind, he/she will have to make a new Wudhū.
