Ghusl For A Person Wearing Braces

Question

What is the ruling with regard to braces stuck by glue to the teeth which are not easily removed? They can be removed by a dentist only, in some cases after years even. Is Ghusl valid even if the water does not reach between the braces and teeth?

Answer

As braces worn on the teeth cannot be removed by the wearer and they are stuck onto the teeth, they will be regarded as part of the teeth, as long as they are there. Hence, it will be sufficient to let water reach only the accessible portions of the mouth. If the water cannot reach the gaps between the braces and teeth, the Ghusl will still be valid.
