Giving Gifts On Aashura (10th Muharram)

Question

Please advise regarding muharram and ashura with regards to gifts and spending on ones family can it only be done on the day of ASHURA or can you buy the gifts before and give it to them on the day 

Answer

It is recommended that one increase, on the day of Aashura in those things which he usually provides his family with. If it is possible to purchase those items on the actual day of Aashura, this would be the ideal.

This increase in spending is for those who a person normally spends on, and does not entail purchasing gifts for extended families, neighbours, friends and acquaintances etc.
