Group Quraan Khatams

Making Quraan Khatm in groups (by inviting people to gather in groups at a certain venue and making khatam of the Qur’aan) is a practice that seems to be on increase for various objectives. There is no proof for such practices mentioned anywhere in the Qur’aan and Hadith, nor are such Khatms approved by the Fuqaha and pious predecessors. We too are therefore not in favour of such Khatms.

Individuals may recite and make Khatm of the Quraan in their personal capacity from within the confines of their homes without enforcing it upon others (to participate in such practices).
