Question
Where should a woman who has been given three Talaaqs spend her Iddat?
Answer
If three Talaaqs were issued, the marriage ceases to exist with immediate effect. The husband and wife will be regarded as strangers to one another and all the laws of segregation will apply to them. While she will spend her Iddat in the husband’s house, they will always keep separate from each other through any means of separation.
If in such a case, residing in the husband’s house may lead them to getting intimate, then to avoid this strong possibility of them falling into sin, they would be told to stay in separate houses. It is best that the husband moves out.
