Question
When I was young, I masturbated while fasting during the month of Ramadan. Alhamdulillah, I have given up such practices for some time. I can clearly remember 2 such days, but vaguely remember it may have been 5-6 days. What is my Kaffarah for this? Must I keep Qadha fast to make up for each? If so, how many would be on the safe side? Or do I have to keep 60 consecutive fasts?
Answer
If you merely stimulated your private part and ejaculation did not occur, then the fast will not become void. However, if ejaculation (of sperm) took place, then the fast will become void. Only qadha will be necessary. There will be no Kaffarah (i.e. you do not have to keep 60 consecutive fasts as compensation). You should however, ponder and arrive at a conclusion as to how many rozas you broke in this manner and keep a Qadha fast for every one of those incidents.
