Question
Can a person pay the utility bills of somebody eligible to receive zakaat (e.g.water/electricity bill) using zakaat money? Does he need permission for this from the person?
Answer
If a person was to pay for someone’s utility bills with Zakaat, it will only be permissible if he was granted permission from that recipient of Zakaat.
