Question
Sometimes we hold our children and put them off to sleep. Their nappies are probably soiled at times. So would it be permissible to recite Qur’aan while holding them?
Answer
In the enquired scenario, if their nappies are not leaking, one can recite while holding the children (even if they have messed inside of their nappies), since one is not in contact with any kind of impurity; however, if the nappies are leaking, one should not recite, since one would probably be making some contact with the impurity and to recite Qur’aan in that manner would be contrary to the etiquettes of the Holy Qur’aan.
