Reciting The Quraan-e-Majeed During Haidh

It should be remembered that reading any portion of the Quran with the intention of recitation of the Quran is in no circumstances allowed when a woman is experiencing her Haidh.

Those verses of the Quran which contain the meaning of Dua or Dhikr are allowed to be read with the intention of Dua and Dhikr, not with the intention of Tilawat (recitation of the Quran). Hence, Surah Fatiha and verses like Ayatul-Kursi are allowed to be read with this intention.

A woman who is doing Hifz or desiring to revise her Quran in the state of Haidh can do so by means of any of the following three:

1. Reading the Quran in the heart and mind, not on the tongue. This would be practical by having the Quran opened and looking inside, without directly touching the Qur’aan.

2. Listening to the Quran from a CD or something alike and following with the heart and mind. Following in this manner by looking inside the Quran may also be very helpful.

3. Reading the Quran by breaking up the words of each Aayah. This means that only a single word of the Quran is read and then the reader pauses for some time and then moves to the next word and stops after that in the same manner and so on.
