What is the ruling with regard to the Imaam standing in the Mihraab while leading Salaah?
The Imaam Standing In The Mihraab
Question
Answer
The correct method is that the Imaam should stand outside the Mihraab or stand in a manner that his feet remain outside the Mihraab. Standing in a manner where both feet are the Mihraab has been classified by the Hanafi Fuqaha (jurists) as Makrooh-e-Tanzeehi. However, if due to lack of space, the Imaam is compelled to stand entirely (i.e. with both feet) in the Mihraab, it will no longer be classified Makrooh-e-Tanzeehi.
