Question
If a person intentionally decided not to fast any day in the month, say the night before the 5th Ramadhaan one decided one does not want to fast the following day . So for that day should one make qadha only or kaffarah. If one has to make qadhaa only what’s the reasoning and if it’s kaffarah what’s the reasoning?
Answer
If a person intentionally did not fast in the month of Ramadhan, he will have to make Qadha of that fast and there will be no Kaffaarah.
Kaffaarah will only become compulsory if a person starts his fast and thereafter deliberately (without any valid excuse) carries out an action that nullifies the fast.
