Wudhu When Performing Ghusl On The Deceased

Question

What is the status of Wudhu when performing Ghusl on a deceased? Is there a difference of opinion amongst the Hanafi jurists in h this Masala?

Answer

Wudhu is Sunnah when giving Ghusal to a deceased. We did not find any difference of opinion with regards to this Mas’ala amongst the Hanafi jurists.

ثم يوضأ وضوءه للصلاة لما روي عن النبي – صلى الله عليه وسلم – أنه قال «للاتي غسلن ابنته ابدأن بميامنها، ومواضع الوضوء منها» ؛ ولأن هذا سنة الاغتسال في حالة الحياة فكذا ( بدائع الصنائع ج ١ ص 300  دار الكتب العلمية(
