Kindly advise if interest monies can be used to pay rates and taxes, given the theft, corruption and abuse of our halaal tax money wasted by our government?
Answer
Our Darul Ifta does not approve of utilizing interest funds to pay for rates and taxes as this is tantamount to taking benefit from interest funds. The recipients of interest funds are poor Muslims that are eligible for Zakaat or poor non-Muslims.
