When someone joins Salaah in the second rakaat:
- Does he have to read thanaa if the imam is engaged in qiraat or if the imam is not?
- If he has to read thanaa, will he have to repeat it when he stands up after the imam makes salam?

- A Masbooq should not read Thanaa in Jahri/Loud Salaah if the Imaam is already engaged in Qira’at. However, if he joins the Imaam before the Imaam starts the Qira’at of the first Rak’at, he may recite it. If it is a silent Salaah (such as Zuhr or Asr), then there is leeway to recite the Thanaa until before the Imaam goes into Ruku.
