Question
If a person misses a Sajdah in Salaah, what must be done to compensate for it?
Answer
If a person forgets one Sajdah and remembers it later while he is busy with another Rukn (posture), it is preferable to immediately go back into Sajdah and thereafter repeat the Rukn (posture) from which he went back to Sajdah. If he does not return immediately but performs three Sujood in the next Rak’at then too his Salaah will be valid. However, in both scenarios, one is required to complete his Salaah with Sajdah-Sahw.
In the instance where a person completely omits one Sajdah, he will have to repeat his Salaah because his Salaah was not valid due to having omitted a Fardh act.
